The Village/Town of Somers is Accepting Applications to Fill the Municipal Judge Vacancy

The Village/Town of Somers is accepting applications for the interim municipal judge’s position. The term is through April 30, 2027.

The Circuit Court will accept a Kenosha County resident for the temporary position on the recommendation of the Village Board. The candidate must be an attorney licensed to practice law in Wisconsin. At the end of the term, an election for the position will be held. By ordinance, the candidate must be a resident of Somers.

Letters of interest and resumes will be accepted until the position is filled. Applications will be reviewed by the Village Board, and selected candidates will be invited for an interview by the Board at a date and time to be determined.

The Municipal Judge presides over cases involving municipal ordinance violations within Somers, including traffic citations, local ordinance infractions, and other matters under the Village’s jurisdiction. The judge is responsible for ensuring proceedings are conducted fairly and efficiently, interpreting and applying the law, and imposing sentences within the authority of the municipal court. Municipal court sessions are typically held on the first and third Thursday of the month beginning at 1:30 p.m. The judge oversees one full-time Court Clerk.

Compensation for the Municipal Judge position is $1,452 per month.
