The Village/Town of Somers is accepting applications from eligible residents to temporarily fill the Municipal Judge’s position. The term is through April 30, 2027.

Currently, the position is temporarily filled by a non-resident. The position remains open to residents who are licensed to practice law in Wisconsin. At the end of the term, the Village will hold an election to select the judge.

Letters of interest and resumes are being accepted. Applications will be reviewed by the Village Board, and candidates may be invited to appear for an interview with the Board at a date and time to be determined.

The Municipal Judge presides over cases involving municipal ordinance violations within Somers, including traffic citations, local ordinance infractions, and other matters under the Village’s jurisdiction. The judge is responsible for ensuring that proceedings are conducted fairly and efficiently, interpreting and applying the law, and imposing sentences within the authority of the municipal court. Municipal court sessions are typically held on the first and third Thursday of the month beginning at 1:30 p.m. The judge oversees one full time court clerk. Compensation for the Municipal Judge position is $1,452 per month.
